FRIDAY NIGHT’S EVENT DELIVERS 679,000 TOTAL VIEWERS 2+,

INCLUDING 340,000 VIEWERS IN THE ADULT 18-49 DEMOGRAPHIC

NEW YORK November 16, 2021 – Univision and Combate Global today announced another ratings success with the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) organization’s latest event that garnered 679,000 Total Viewers 2+, including 340,000 viewers in the coveted A18-49 demographic, last Friday, Nov. 12

In an 11 p.m. ET/12 a.m. PT (delayed on the west coast) time slot, the event, headlined by a ‘USA vs. Mexico’-themed, one-night, eight-man lightweight (155 pounds) tournament generated the second-highest viewership for Combate Global in its four-year history with Univision.

“Our ratings on Univision continue to grow, while we attract and engage with a brand-new audience of Gen-Z and millennial viewers,” said Combate Global CEO Campbell McLaren.  “This is an audience that we created and that no one else in the MMA industry is reaching.”

The live show on Friday was the highest-rated program on Spanish-language television in the U.S. in the timeslot, and the second-highest rated program on television in the timeslot, behind only NBA programming on ESPN.

In the tournament main event, 23-year-old star Enrique “Baby Bull” Gonzalez (12-4) of Laredo, Texas via Chicago, Ill., defeated three consecutive opponents, including championship adversary Cristian “Puas” Perez (8-1) of Ensenada, B.C., Mexico, in one night to earn the tournament championship for the U.S.

The latest ratings victory is second only to Combate Global’s event on August 1 that drew 946,000 Total Viewers 2+ and 464,000 Adults 18-49 in a 12 a.m. ET/PT time slot on Univision, beating the viewership of the MMA industry juggernaut, the UFC, which pulled 797,000 Total Viewers 2+ viewers and 329,000 Adults 18-49, in primetime on July 31.
