Miami, FL- At 22 years old, most people don’t have the slightest clue what they are going to do in their life. Cristian “Puas” Perez, 22, has his mindset on becoming champion and providing for his family.

Getting into MMA at a young age to bond with his father, also a fighter, Perez recognized that he was at a higher level than those in the practice room- and perhaps this could become not only his livelihood but also his legacy.

“I just moved to Miami six months ago; I left my home in Mexico to pour everything I have into this sport. I train out of GOAT Shed Academy here in Miami, and I still meet with my coaches in Mexico through Zoom calls,” he said.

Perez makes a return to La Jaula this next Friday, November 12, as part of the eight-man lightweight tournament. Perez’s first fight in this tournament is against Miguel Villegas.

“I know him from fighting in the amateur circuit in Mexico. I honestly think he will be my toughest opponent up to this point, but I believe regardless of all his strengths, it won’t be enough to stop me from getting a big paycheck. I can’t say whether it will be a knockout or a submission, but just expect smash.”

He later said, “This tournament means a lot to me. It’s going to change my life and the lives of my family. My opponents do not motivate me at all. I already know going in that I will defeat them. I already know I’m in a lot better shape than the others in the tournament- I’m young, and I have yet to spill blood in La Jaula. What motivates me is all the people that depend on me. I don’t get better for my opponents. I get better for myself.”
