Jair Perez bestows Landry Ward’s first career loss

Miami, FL – Mexico’s Jair Perez (7-2) was not impressed by Landry Ward (5-1) height or crisp technique. Perez defeated Ward by way of unanimous decision.
Perez defeated Ward in the main event of CG2022 April 15 Ward vs Perez. The fight is available to watch on Paramount Plus.
In the first round, Ward worked Perez with his crisp technique landing shot to the head and body, but once Perez got wind of it he countered landed an overhand right several time, which worked towards his benefit. He did enough damage to impress the judges as Perez was awarded the first round.
Flash-forward to the third round, Perez continued to throw the overhand right and used his footwork to force Ward to come to him. Ward connected but the Mexican would take a shot only to retaliate with one in return.
Toward the latter part of the round, Perez went for the take down and landed heavy hands while on the ground. The last ten seconds of the round both men just went toe-to-toe throwing consistently until the bell rang.
In the co-main event, Martiza Sanchez (3-1) displayed her evolvement putting the breaks on Spain’s Aitana Alvarez (1-2), who made her debut inside la jaula, offensive arsenal.
In the opening seconds of the first round, Alvarez hit Sanchez with two heavy right crosses that took Sanchez to the canvass. But, she quickly was able to compose herself and took the fight to the clinch where she judo threw Alvarez and landed shots on the ground.
From there on, Sanchez showed she was more comfortable finding opportunities where she would land a flurry of punches At times, she cornered Alvarez where Sanchez would unleash of series of punches and several knees while in the clinch.
Sanchez was just too much for the Alvarez.
Also, Michael Reyes defeated Rodrigo Garcia by way of unanimous decision in the fight opener of the main card.
