Miami, FL- Combate Global’s latest edition Kevin Cordero (11-2) debuts inside la jaula this Friday, but his first fight is more than just about winning.

Cordero faces veteran Ricky Bandejas (14-5) in this Friday’s main event.

However, the top ranked Spanish fighter is not only fighting for a victory but for a spot in Copa Combate, set to take place later this year. If he wins, Spain will have a spot in the year’s tournament.

He is on a five-fight winning streak, so securing a spot on this year’s Copa Combate looks promising. His last fight was in June when he defeated Mario Moreno by way of Knockout in the first round.

“Fans can expect a great gas from both Ricky and myself,” he said.

The father of two, has several goals of course winning titles but making sure he can leave a house for each of his children.

Thanks to his brother, he started to train mixed martial arts.

“My brother and his friend trained and since then I would continue to train,” said Cordero, who has trained mma for about 14 years.

But he credits his father for introducing him to combat sports. Kickboxing was his first combat sport he ventured into.

Currently, he trains with the Black Lion Team with Jonathan Leon and Isidro Sanchez, well known fighters from the Canary Islands.

However, Bandejas is coming off a victory and snapping his losing streak when he defeated Terry Bartholomew in last month.

Yet, Cordero is confident in his skills and wants to make an impression inside la jaula. Friday’s fight will be his first fight in the United States. Out of his ten victories, only one has been by way of split decision.
