Miami, FL– Fans wanting to see Lucero “La Loba’” Acosta’s back in la jaula in 2023, have to wait.

Acosta injured her right thumb. She was scheduled to fight this Saturday, April 1, against Spain’s Silvia Juaneda.

However, Juaneda will compete against Quinn Williams.

The fan favorite, Acosta injured herself about a week before the fight and currently has a cast.

“I took some x-rays, and it showed that it is broken,” she said. “Doctor’s told me that the bone didn’t move. If it did it would have consisted of surgery, but it did not. He told me it could be six weeks until I get better,” she said.

Acosta was looking forward to compete three times this year, but she says she needs to be patient.

“I was ready, but things happen for a reason. It is time to learn other things and just look at it on a positive way,” she said.

Last September, Acosta defeated Mariel Celimen by way of unanimous decision in a heated contest.

She expects to be ready to go around July. She said she is ready to compete against anyone, but if she had to choose one opponent, it is Chantel Coates.

“I want the rematch against, “ she said.

Coates defeated Acosta by way of unanimous decision back in August 2021.

Acosta, who trains with the Victory MMA in San Diego, California , said she expects to return to action around July.
