The event that will have fighters from four different countries and Mexico will not only have a worthy representation with three of the best prospects in Mixed Martial Arts today, but the youngest of the entire card, highlighting the quality of the generational change of the sport in Mexico.

David “Black Spartan” Martinez (2-0), who comes from a family of martial artists and shares his profession with his sister, Combate Americas’ fighter Melissa Martinez, is one of three young Mexicans who will see action this Friday in Combate Peru. At 20 years old, he has managed to catch the attention of the media thanks to his fighting style and charisma, which he showed in his Combate Americas’ debut.

Martinez, took everyone by surprise after he defeated Enrique Barragan via technical knockout in the first round, an experienced fighter who had a 6-1 record by that time. Showcasing his ability to strike-and-bang, “Black Spartan” managed to connect with a straight right hand that sent his opponent to the canvas, sending a message to the entire bantamweight division.

Unbeaten as a professional with 2-0 record, he will look for another victory when he faces William Sanchez, a local fighter who will make his professional debut inside La Jaula, who has  a 5-1 amateur record.

Alitzel Mariscal (2-0), from Jalisco, Mexico, was discovered by Combate Americas in 2018 and immediately began to reap the fruits of her incredible talent. Mariscal, had one of the best beginnings in Combate Americas women’s atomweight division, by defeating more experienced fighters in devastating fashion. First she made history in the company by fighting with her boyfriend, Victor Madrigal, in Combate 27, where she got her first professional victory over Brenda Enríquez via unanimous decision.

Then, she took a fight against renowned fighter Vanesa Rico, whom she dispatched in just 3:18 seconds of the first round in Combate Americas: Mexico vs. Spain. The fighter has defended her flag twice on Mexican soil, and this time she must do so in foreign lands.

Mariscal, who has a perfect record so far, will face Maria Paula Buzaglo (1-1) in Combate Peru, a 19-year-old fighter who was a Juvenile Muay Thai champion. Despite losing in her promotional debut against Corina Herrera, Buzaglo left a good impression over all. Without a doubt, it will be one of the best matches in terms of talent and youth.

Daniel “Golden Boy” Zellhuber (7-0), the last of the three Aztec warriors who will see action this weekend, is perhaps Mexico’s best prospect in the lightweight division. With a 7 win-streak, including 3 finishes by TKO / KO and another by submission, he has established himself as a force to be reckoned with at 155 pounds.

He entered Combate Americas with a 5-0 record and extended his undefeated streak with wins via submission and technical knockout over Jose Luis Medrano and Salvador Izar. In less than seven months, the 19 year old showed the potential he had and everything there is to exploit. He is a fighter with a Muay Thai background that is not afraid of going to the ground, he is well-rounded and has a really long reach in contrast to his division’s rivals.

“Golden Boy”, will face Gianfranco Cortéz (4-0) in the main event, a fighter with a boxing base and undefeated as a professional. Cortéz, who has four victories (2 of them by TKO in the first round) as a professional, also had a positive record in amateur MMA, going 4-1 in just one year of competition.

Zellhuber will have the hardest task compared to his previous teammates, as he leads a historic event on foreign soil and seeks to keep his undefeated record in tact. For more information about the eventnd how to get tickets, visit: Combate Peru.
