Miami, FL- Mexico’s Jair Perez (7-2) will tests his skills against American Justin “Slick J” Vazquez (8-2), who has notable jiu jitsu in this week’s main event for CG 2022 September 9: Perez vs Vazquez.

In the co-main event, Peruvian American Martin Davila (7-3) will battle Michael Reyes (7-5) in a flyweight contest.

Perez vs Vasquez

Perez is coming off a victory against former undefeated fighter Landry Ward back in April winning by unanimous decision. The Mexican has heavy hands and a background in wrestling as he was selected to be part of the Nuevo Leon Wrestling Team. He trains with the Lions Alpha Team with the likes of Levy Marroquin. He is 6-1 inside la jaula. His only defeat was to Cristian “Puas” Perez back in September 2020 by way of decision. He is currently enjoying a four-fight win streak.

On the other hand, Vazquez is also enjoying a three-fight win streak defeating Mauricio Cubillo back in May by way of unanimous decision. He counts on four submission victories as a professional. He is undefeated inside la jaula. The Cuban American trains with the Freedom Fighters in Miami, FL.

Expect this fight to start off testing each other but the pace will quickly pick up with time with Perez throwing bombs and Vazquez countering or maybe challenging him to the ground. The edge on the ground goes to Vazquez, but Perez’s wrestling could be well enough to escape any potential submissions.

Davila vs Reyes

For the second time this year, Reyes enters la jaula after a victory over Rodrigo Garcia back in April by way of unanimous decision. He is 5-3 with Combate Global. Reyes trains out of Knuckleheadz Boxing and MMA and the West Coast Jiu Jitsu. The southpaw counts on a heavy jab and can change levels quickly. He is aggressive and fast paced.

Last time Davila, a former Marine, saw action was in June 2021 where he defeated Jonathan Sepulveda by unanimous decision. He owns a black belt in jiu jitsu where he finds comfort. In his last fight, he exchanged and grappled making it difficult for his opponent to escape. He trains out of the Young Tigers Foundation and Fight Sports.

This is a fight that was scheduled for July, however, due to Covid-19 protocols, the fight didn’t take place. At last, both men will finally see action. Look for Reyes to be the aggressor in the fight but Davila will use the corners to cut him and force Reyes to grapple.
