Miami, FL – Mexico’s Ivan “Choko” Castillo’s (22-13) five fight win streak will be tested against Combate Global’s newcomer Chile’s Claudio “The Spider” Quintana (8-4) in the main event for this week’s CG2022 April 29: Castillo vs Quintana.

Also, in a featured women’s flyweight contact Mariel Celimen (1-1) will return to action against Tyler Schaefer (0-1) who competed inside la jaula in December.

Castillo vs Quintana

Both men agreed to the main event fight just days ago. Castillo’s original opponent Enrique “Baby Bull” Gonzalez, USA vs Mexico tournament winner, dropped from the fight card after suffering an injury.

But Quintana, who trains at Valle Flow Striking, which is home to Gonzalez and world champion Juliana Pena, stepped in.

Since his defeat in Combate 41 against JC Llamas, Castillo has been unstoppable putting the breaks on Dumar Roa, Marcos Lloreda and Tommy Aaron all in 2021. Although he has over 30 fights, Castillo keeps evolving, improving his takedown defense and even exploring his ground game thanks to the work he puts in at the Blackxicans in Mexico.

There’s no secret Castillo likes to exchange hands and deliver an exciting fight and expect he will do the same this Friday.

He’ll have company from Quintana, who is also on a five-fight win streak, picking up notable ones on fighters such as former world champion and Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt Luis “Baboon” Palomino in May of 2019 by was of unanimous decision.

Out of the five victories, three of them came by way of submission, which could challenge Castillo. However, Quintana is no stranger to the standup game and will go toe-to-toe with Castillo to deliver a spectacle inside la jaula.

Celiman vs Schaefer

Schaefer, from California, makes her return to la jaula in search of her first Combate Global victory. Her first outing was last December against Rosselyn Chavira in a split decision defeat. She displayed good stand up skills using kicks and combinations but she came out short in the victory. Compared to Celiman, she is the stronger fighter.

But Celiman is no stranger to taking on fighters that look physically stronger as she routed Blanca Marquez in her professional debut displaying great boxing and kicks.

Her last fight ended in a controversial loss as she head butted her opponent. However, she has learned from her mistakes and has put that incident in the rearview mirror.

Recently, she changed training camps as she is sharpening her skills at the GOAT Shed Academy and Bushido Muay Thai in Miami, Fl.

She said the incident taught her to be more in control of her emotions. Expect to see a more relaxed, technical Celiman and potentially challenge her opponent on the ground.

Also, the entertaining Hugo Flores, also from Valle Flow Striking, will welcome California’s Richie Palomino to la jaula and what could be a standup war.
