Miami, FL– In a clash between Cuba and Colombia, Luis “El Tigre Gomez (9-5) will face Javier “Blair” Reyes in a featherweight fight that is sure will test each of competitor’s skills in this week’s CG2022 May 20: Gomez vs Reyes main event Friday.

Also in the main event, two new star athletes will make their debut inside la jaula when Chile’s Melissa Gomez (0-0) battles Jharely Reyes (0-0) and in a flyweight featured bout Argentina’s Pablo “Killer” Caballero (8-8) goes toe-to-toe with Mexico’s Ernesto “The Stallion” Ibarra (6-1).

Gomez vs Reyes

Gomez returns to la jaula after putting on a wrestling clinic when he faced Michael Garcia in October. Garcia is notable for his wrestling, but the Cuban shut his foe in every aspect as he dominated the entire fight.

Gomez trains with American Top Team and Zen Jiu Jitsu and has trained with notable names like Yoel Romero and Thiago Alves. He has won several titles in other promotions and is 2-1 with Combate Global. His background in Judo makes him dangerous as he has defeated his former opponents using the seoi otoshi maneuver. In fact, he has a victory over top mma fighter Sodiq Yusuff and has battled major names like Hebert Burns and Chase Hooper.

On the other side, the heavy metal music fan Reyes returns after going 2-0 in 2021 earning victories over John Simon and Jorge Calvo Calvo. All the victories were impressive. In his fight with Calvo, he did get taken down with a right hand but quickly recovered.

He has trained with popular gyms likes the Ulimate Kombat Fitness in Arizona. However, for this fight camp, he has conducted his entire training in his native Colombia. The jiu jitsu purple belt practitioner, is ready to deliver an exciting fight.

This will start off with both fighters testing each others striking power, but both know they carrying power. Reyes can’t get too close to Gomez who will use his judo skills to throw Reyes to the canvass. Reyes needs to use the reach to prohibit Gomez from trading strikes closely.

Gomez could potentially explore his wrestling and search for a ground and pound. Reyes needs to use the jab to keep Gomez away and feint.

Reyes vs Gomez

Both these ladies will be filled with nerves as they make their debut professionally on a major stage like la jaula.

Reyes, who trains with the Blackxicans, has a ton of experience as she started her journey in combat sports at age four with karate. She is not afraid to fight with anyone as she defeated a male in an amateur fight a few years ago. She won by submission in the first round. The black belt in karate, is sure to bring excitement. Look for her to use kicks and boxing, but she won’t fear taking the fight to the canvass.

As for Gomez, the Chilean is on a comeback, after having a child, she is now on the verge of getting back on her mma journey. She counts on great boxing skills and training with the likes of Combate Global’s Gloria Bravo who have pushed her to become a better fighter over at the Barrio Franklin gym.

Expect a standup battle between these two young ladies with Reyes having the edge on the ground game.

Ibarra vs Caballero

Both Caballero and Ibarra are coming off victories in la jaula. Caballero defeated Michael Reyes by guillotine choke back in June 2021, while Ibarra defeated Gerardo Graniel by decision in November.

Fight fans are in for a treat, both of these men love to trade strikes and won’t stop once they get started.

Caballero, who competed in a bareknucle boxing fight, throws his hand relentlessly, while the hyperactive Ibarra is not afraid to return the favor.

However, the slight advantage on the ground goes to Caballero, who trains at Futures MMA. He picked up his last victory by way of submission.

Should be a fast paced back and forth fight from the start.
